About Us

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our Tier 2 Alternative Provision – Trinity Academy Carlton Mill. We are proud to be an integral part of Trinity Academy Grammar and uphold the same high standards and expectations as the mainstream setting. At Trinity Academy Grammar, we are passionate about providing a world class education for all students, which provides the relevant pastoral support each individual student requires. This is mirrored at Trinity Academy Carlton Mill.

Trinity Academy Carlton Mill offers 14-week breakout placements for students in years 7 to 10 within Calderdale. The aim of each placement is that students become better equipped to access mainstream education and we work with each student on an individual basis to meet their needs.

Further details about our academic and pastoral curriculum can be found within this prospectus.

Every student who enters Trinity Academy Carlton Mill will take part in a series of initial assessments, which will allow the team to develop a bespoke personal development programme.

Students accessing our Key Stage 3 provision will follow a broad and balanced academic curriculum, while students accessing our Key Stage 4 provision will work towards eight GCSE (or equivalent) qualifications.

Trinity Academy Carlton Mill has close ties with the excellent curriculum teams based at Trinity Academy Grammar. Our Curriculum Leaders have developed bespoke curriculums for our students, which links in with the key knowledge of our mainstream curriculum but planned and delivered in a way suitable for our alternative provision. We also continue with our assessment programme called ‘Masters of Recall’, which tests students recall of this key knowledge on a termly basis.

Each individual’s success at Trinity Academy Carlton Mill depends on the collaborative work between all stakeholders: the Academy, the students, the referring school and parents / carers. We will report weekly on the students’ progress at Trinity Academy Carlton Mill to both parents / carers and the reporting school, along with regular in person meetings to review progress towards targets and reintegration plans.

We aim to successfully reintegrate all students back into their mainstream settings following their 14-week placement at Trinity Academy Carlton Mill. Progress towards this will be reviewed and discussed at regular intervals, and will be supported by our pastoral team within the Academy.

The aim of Trinity Academy Carlton Mill is to give every young person who walks through our doors the opportunity to develop and grow, and be ready to successfully reintegrate into mainstream education and thus realise their true potential.
